Christophe Dumont has been sculpting horses for 20 years. The metal enables him, thanks to its technical qualities, to express the mass of the animal, and both its strength and lightness at the same time. And if his sculptures are not purely realistic, they perfectly match the proportions and natural attitudes of the horse.

The sculptor was first a horse rider. From the age of 8 to 20 years old, Christophe Dumont rode horses, under the guidance of Thierry Faure, the first equestrian instructor in Brittany in the 1970s; today Thierry is a renowned equestrian painter.

During all these years, Christophe Dumont practiced rigorous hipology. This knowledge guides him today in his research of forms.

For 15 years, Christophe Dumont has been exhibiting in the most prestigious horse racing venues, from the Zingaro equestrian Theatre, for two consecutive seasons, to the Féderation Equestre Internationale in Lausanne, the lobby of which he decorated with 7 galloping horses as a tribute to Muybridge’s photographic work. Some of his work was acquired by various Parisian race tracks as well as at the Horse Museum in Chantilly. He also exhibited several full-size horses, three of which are now abroad in Belgium, Switzerland and the United States.
